Lazar remembers the first time he knew what 'revolution' meant. It's the winter of 1989, and the television is always, always on. His parents are either watching with concern, or nearby as if waiting for something to happen. Lazar's really more occupied with making snow angels, whatever angels are. Lazar thinks he's heard his mama talking about them, every time papa comes home drunk after work in the Ukrainian courts and muttering about happenings in the south. It occurs to him that he's never heard thunder outside before. Now he stands by the window in his bedroom half-darkened by storm, curtains and shutters thrown open to let in a wet breeze- and he hears it. An eerie blue-grey cast over the street below, the storm clouds turn lamps and headlights into beacons like faraway ships in the sea of the sky. So, I'm first and foremost a writer. I dabble in photography and jewelry-making for fun sometimes, but writing is my real passion. I really enjoy writing and reading stories with magical realist and otherwise strange elements. Life got REAL

Haha, I figured I hadn't put up a journal on here since April... So why not now? I've been at college, and it's been fanTAStic. I love my friends, my classes are great, and so far the work load has yet to crush my soul. Band is great (I get to wear a kilt), and recently I've had a bit of time to actually write! :D So, life is looking pretty good right now. :)

Further Excitement at My High School

THREE MILES from my school, and even though all the other schools closed, we were allowed to walk between classes, OUTSIDE, because we have a campus. My goodness. Makes me laugh that in my four-year stint at my school, we haven't shut down for an earthquake, a tornado, a bomb threat, an anthrax scare/quarantine, a stabbing, escaped lions and leopards less than 10 miles from the school earlier this year, and now, an escaped psych ward patient. FANTAST

College and other things

So, I do believe that I'll be attending the College of Wooster this fall! :) I'm getting excited! Unfortunately, there's some financial issues I still need to work out, but I'm hopefull everything'll turn out well. Basically I'm just fighting through my last few months of high school. It's really strange- I want it to be over, but then I think about there being less than two months left and I get to wondering where all this time went, and how everything's going to change. I dunno. (still writing, by the way!)
